The Ultimate Guide to Filling MHT CET CAP Round Preferences
Published on June 11, 2024
After MHT CET results are declared, the next big task is filling out CAP Round preferences. CAP stands for Centralized Admission Process and is used to allot seats in engineering colleges across Maharashtra. Many students make mistakes during this phase, which can cost them a good college or preferred branch. Here’s how to approach it wisely: Start by making a priority list. Research colleges—look at placement records, faculty, infrastructure, and alumni. Divide your list into three tiers: dream colleges (like COEP, VJTI), realistic choices based on your percentile, and backup options. During preference filling, always put dream options first, even if they seem tough to get. There’s no harm in trying. Follow them with realistic and safe choices. Don’t fill only 5-10 options; aim for at least 30–40. Understand that each round of CAP affects your final seat allotment. In Round 1, you’ll be allotted the best option available as per your list and rank. If you accept the seat, you may get an upgrade in Round 2. But once you accept, you can’t go back. CAP also includes TFWS and minority quota options. Use these if you’re eligible. Apna Counsellor offers one-on-one guidance for CAP preference filling—ensuring you make the most of your score.
